The Biggest Churches In Australia

Australia is blessed with many beautiful churches. The largest of these being St. Mary’s Cathedral, in Sydney. Its 19th century architecture includes many towers, beautiful stained glass windows, and an awe inspiring pipe organ. The immense window of the chancel is one of the world’s most beautifully designed 19th century windows. It also features a minor basilica, thanks to Pope Pius XI in 1930, and a marble replica of Michelangelo’s Pieta. It remains the largest English Gothic Cathedral in the world, built in the last 100 years.

Hillsong Church, founded in 1983, was known then as the Hills Christian Life Centre. The church’s beliefs are evangelical and pentecostal, and more than 20,000 people attend each week.

C3 Church Sydney is the largest congregation in the Christian City Church movement. Founded in 1980, it began with 12 attendees. It provides several youth programs, and a college for learning.

Tha Paradise Community Church is the second largest in Australia. It is a multi-campus church founded in 1907, and today welcomes more than 6,000 people weekly. The original church in Paradise has since branched off into 5 other locations. Paradise offers community services, and has donated food and clothing to over 10,000 people.
